200 Followers? Half Birthdays? Whaaa?

Hey, hey, hey!  We are getting close to 200 followers for my cast at Twitch (currently at 186 as of 5/11/13)!  I would love to hit 200 before I also do my 1/2 Birthday cast.  Speaking of which I’m looking at the weekends of June 1st, or June 8th for the cast please let me know what you think, and why, as I’d love to do this for as many people as I can. I’m not sure which weekend works better for me at this point but one of those is the date I’m considering.

Speaking of the celebration I should perhaps explain the concept of a half birthday as it’s not familiar to most people. For me my birthday occurs late in the year… sometime between all the big holidays specifically sometime between: Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. I keep the actual day private save for close friends and family for a very specific reason but generally celebrate my actual birthday around the 10th of December as its close enough to my actual birthday but far enough away from Christmas and Thanksgiving that people actually think to say “Happy Birthday”.

However due to the timing of my birthday it also means no one has any real time or money to celebrate my birthday, so when I was born my mother had a great idea… a ½ Birthday. The idea is fairly simple, half way through the year when people have the time, money, and inclination to go to a birthday party to actually celebrate my birthday. Since my younger sister is also born in this time frame it became a regular thing for us to instead of celebrating our actual birthdays we celebrate our half birthday.

I’ve taken to celebrating (and having the now nonexistent) party usually in the first two weeks of June… depending on when the weekends fall, when people can get time off, etc. This year, like last, I plan on celebrating with my family separately from my cast on Twitch.tv, however if I receive gifts that relate to the stream you can be sure that you will see them appear on the stream.

I’m certainly hoping for a better turn out this year than last year in which basically it was just another day casting. Maybe the world will get out some about the cast, and more people will show up. As always I’m not doing this for donations or presents however if any should come about because of this it be (as always) greatly appreciated. I literally have lists of games on Amazon, Steam, and I’ll be creating something on my website (once I figure out a better host for it) with a list of things I’m kind of looking for… regardless of what it’s from. This list will be for family as well as the stream so while you won’t see personal items like socks and similar on there, you will find non game related items (just like with Amazon).

If you can’t afford anything but would still like to help there are many ways of doing so, some just take a moment of your time:

1. Click to Tweet and help spread the word about the cast.

2. Follow me on Twitch and try tuning in when you can, even if you aren’t actively watching the cast.

3. Spread the word around to your friends or people you think might be interested.

None of these are particularly difficult and take only a few moments of time to accomplish. As a reminder I am attempting to make Partner with Twitch and that means I need to get a cast that consistently has around 400 viewers. At the time of writing this we are averaging between 4 and 7… so a very long way to go. There really isn’t much more that I can add to the conversation beyond this so if you have any questions please, leave me a comment, send me a message, or drop by on Twitch.

Remember I send out a message on Twitter before I cast, with casts normally starting between 10 and 11 AM Pacific time, and running on average until at least 5 PM Pacific time… so between 6 and 7 hours of streaming daily. On Mondays and Thursdays I do an approximately 15 minuet cast of deals, specials, and other things I have found that can help save you money with various websites I check out. Finally I always welcome feedback so anytime you have comments to leave please feel free to do so.
