Opinions are like …

I’ve had the question posed to me “Well why don’t you go to forums?” a few times both in chat and out side of it.  There are several reasons some are personal, most are not.  One of the main reasons comes down to a saying that my Mother likes to throw around: “Opinions are like butt holes (note I altered this for language") everyone has one, and just about everyone thinks theirs is the best".”

 While I can’t deny that I have my own opinion on things (after all I am human) I hate feeling belittled by others on my opinions.  In just about every open forum I haven been too there are people who feel the need to point out how their opinion (and yes a lot of the time it is opinion no fact) is right, yours is wrong, and how you’re a complete moron for thinking otherwise.

This wouldn’t be bad if we were talking about facts, however we are talking opinions here… views about something NOT A FACT.  Taken direction from merriam-webster’s definition for Opinion:

a : a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter

As you can see the definition of Opinion does not include the word FACT anywhere.  And as @Crumps2 likes to point out everyone is different, we al l do things our own way and if everyone else thought and acted like you then everyone else in the world would be trying to scam on your boy/girlfriend (sorry about the paraphrased) and I’ll go so far as to add and even they would be just like so so it would come down to one person hitting on themself.  That’s not only creepy but wrong.

So why should I be belittled for not following popular trend or thought?  I may have had a different experience then you have making for a different expectation out of life.  That means how I interpret things will be different then how you do so.  This also means based off of the above definition YOUR NOT RIGHT because there is no RIGHT… only what you think and your evaluation.

That’s why I don’t go to forums, and actually why I don’t become a larger member on many websites.  I’m not part of the “in crowed” or is well beloved.  I also know that I get annoyed with people over stuff like this.  Finally I know that generally speaking I’m going to get bored with it fairly soon so what’s the point in putting in a huge effort only to have it fall flat with in a month?
