Talk about taking the cake. So far Ubisoft has flat ran away with my wow factor when it comes to this E3. From games like watch Dogs, to Assassin’s Creed 3, and Farcry 3 they actually have me wanting to go and play games I’ve had no real interest in just so that I’m better prepared for their upcoming titles.
To start with lets go with some games that they didn’t show much or any of. Marvel’s Avengers: Battle for Earth was little more then a short clip but is Wii U confirmed. It looked like it could be impressive. Some other clips that really had no information to them included Rabbids Land, Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012, Sports and Sports Connection. I’d expect these aren’t expected to be as strong titles for Ubisoft, however they may still prove interesting.
There were some games that were barely more then a series of snapshots mentioned: Trials Evolution, The Settlers, Ghost Recon… and one other.
Just Dance 4 broke the show open with a long dance scene with a singer on stage and is confirmed for the Wii U. The game looks potentially fun, however I’ve never tried one, it is one of Ubisofts bigger series. What will be in it new this next year? I couldn’t guess.
Splinter Cell Blacklist was mentioned with “Co-Op” will be back similar to what was in Vindication. They showed the release trailer, the game looks impressive, and most definitely has potential. I might have to check it out…
The Wii U section also confirmed Rayman Legends for the Wii U. Footage was shown using early versions of the Wii U hardware so things may change however it looks like fun including a strange music/platforming combination section and up to five players. There was a video for a Wii U exclusive zombie game (not my usual cup of tea) entitled ZombiU which takes place in London and asks “How long will you survive?”
And with out further ado the titles that really caught me off guard and surprised me.
Farcry 3 was the second title shown by Ubisoft, and yes it was at E3 last year. This time they showed footage from (I’m guessing) further in the game, I’ll warn you now THE FOOTAGE IS NOT FOR CHILDREN it contains nudity, some pretty extreme violence, what appears to be at least one drug crazed trip. Overall however the game play looked pretty darn cool and so has my interest.
Assassin's Creed III was shown with game play footage, they are calling it a “Revolution” perhaps just because of the fact that it takes place during the American Revolution from the British. While bloody its no where near as bad as Farcry 3, and has me wanting to try the game. For someone who usually doesn’t do that kind of gameplay that should say something.
Shoot Mania is aimed at E-Sports enthusiasts, particularly shooter fans. The game is in Alpha stage and you can sign up for the beta at shootmania.com . June 6th. at 11 AM PST you can watch the “Grand Finale “ over at Twitch.Tv .
Watch Dogs. OH MY GOD WATCH DOGS. This game looks phenomenal. I am completely floored by how good, and how impressive, and just FUN this game looks. This game I can’t stress enough simply looks phenomenal and asks some very important and troubling questions for our time. Edit and Update: Video of this is available on G4 here.
Oh and that other game I mentioned? Beyond Good and Evil HD… mentioning it makes me wonder if Beyond Good and Evil 2 isn’t still a possibility.
