Sony certainly came out of the gate swinging this E3. With the help of Ubisoft they most certainly had an impressive show, from surprise announcements, to known games Sony has done something that we have been waiting to see for a while now. While I had hoped to hear something more about their plans for the future, and for more tie-ins with alternate devices, it was still impressive.
Sony calling themselves the “Epicenter of Gaming” had an answer for many of the problems that we’ve seen from them in the past. The PlayStation Plus feature its booming, and the cross platform functionality between the PS3 and Vita are both pluses. I wish there was more information about what the cross platforming will do, but so far it seems depended on title.
One example is PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale will allow you to do just about everything you can do on your PS3 version of the game, and vice versa since the data is shared. LBP2 (Little Big Planet 2) sounds to do something similar via its upcoming DLC, but instead the players will get an idvidualized view using the Vita while what's on the TV (when using the Vita as a controller) will be the group view.
Both Far Cry 3 and A.C. 3 (Assassin’s Creed) will have new information with Liberation bringing more story to the table. An AC 3 for Vita launching at the same time as AC3 plus exclusive DLC for the games is pretty impressive. All in all this looks to be a great partnership for Sony.
Quantic Dream’s Beyond: Two Souls looks to be very spooky, with definite supernatural overtones. Jody Homes will be followed over 15 years of her life, and will be voice acted by Ellen Page. Game most definitely has my attention.
God of War Ascension looks impressive, and will explore the life of a early Kratos. The violence is there, new enemy types, and perhaps more impressively Kratos using weapons of his enemy against them. This game looks fantastic and will be one to keep an eye on before it launches March 12, 2013.
The Last of Us looks to be more then your typical Zombie shooter game with of course a heavy action bend. I was impressed by the visuals and the way the game flowed, however I’ll have to keep an eye on it for the violence, but it may be another in for me into a this type of game. Could be very interesting…
Lastly to help keep this shorter was the product that had me the most impressed. The PlayStation Wonderbook will be partnered for their first release with J.K. Rowling for a Harry Potter themed game/story. Miranda Goshawk Book of Spells for the PS3 looks to be a fun way to explore and learn more about the Harry Potter universe.
Of course look for more information from me at on my twitter @Bluemagican , my website , and of course my live casting at Twitch.tv.
