EA’s Press Conference

This press conference was largely as I expected, with a lot of talk on sports titles.  Madden 13, Fifa 13, an announcement of them getting UFC.  Being a non-sports gamer these games hold little interest to me however I will say that the idea of leveling up a player to me makes sense for Madden, Fifa, etc.  Sim City was also discussed, and a little more was given out about a new MULTIPLAYER feature… very cool.

Visceral Studios showed Dead Space 3, which is interesting.  I haven't played the previous games however this one definitely looked a step above what I’ve seen so far.  Sim City Social for Facebook has 0 interest for me.  Battlefield 3 is moving forward with Battlefield 3 Premium, which will give you 20 new weapons, 10+ new vehicles, more customizable items, new assignments, and access to new modes, expansion packs, and features.  Available today 49.99 rather impressive.

Star Wars The Old Republic didn’t tip a lot of its hand.  There will be more PVP warzones, additional high level content, a new species, a new planet, and increased levels.  Finally sometimes in July the game will become free for everyone up to level 15.  Potentially we could still see Old Republic become something of a Trojan horse to take on WoW.

Medal of Honor Warfighter will be running on the Frostbite 2 engine.  The game is going to be connected to real world events, and occurrences with some inspiration from the mission seeming to come from the real world.  Since the multiplayer game will have 12 different “Tier 1” class warfighters from different nations this could be an interesting one to keep an eye on.

Need for Speed is back this year with a new Most Wanted.  This game has my interest as a sandbox based game in which you can compete with your friends using their online Autolog feature.  Everything you do in the game earns you points which determine your rank against your friends on the service, and the crash cam is fairly nice feature, though I could see it causing issues.  Due out Oct. 30, this game is one I’ll have an eye on.

Finally there is Cytec's Crysis 3.  As someone who has never played the series this game look amazing.  The run and gun game play looks fluid and smooth, the controls look fluid and the over all play looks stylized.  Potentially a very interesting contender due out Fem. 2013.

As always look for more on my stream, website, and for more from my blog!
