Maybe not the end… but not a happy Birthday by any means.

I hate to post this, please, make no mistake there, for in posting this I am cutting myself off from one of the things that I had hoped to do with the cast, and that is becoming something of a journalist when it comes to video games.  However has things have turned out in my life, this seems less, and less likely to actually occur.  In fact, in posting this I am acknowledging that is quite likely that the worst is in fact coming to occur and that there is little to nothing that I can do to prevent it.

Sometimes it Just Feels Like There is No Silver Lining

I have will attempt to make this post as neutral as possible as anything too depressing people don’t wish to read, and to be honest sometimes there is no way to take news and make it positive.  In fact sometimes there is no way to phrase news in a positive or uplifting manner.  While I attempt to avoid brining my personal life in as much as I can , sometimes however you simply can’t avoid doing so.  This particular news has hit me hard at a time when we should be thankful and coming together with family.

Argh! Ch-ch-ch-changes!

Twitch is changing.  I don’t particularly like it.  The changes are making it so that the HTML banners for things like Chip In, and Game Fan Shop don’t want to work right because the new page lay out is only in Markup language.  WHY TWITCH?

Website Information

I made quite a few updates to the website tonight, so I hope you have a chance to swing by and have a look.  While the updates might seem minor they are another step towards what I would eventually like the site to become, plus I have now given proper thanks to people who have helped me along the way casting.  I hope that everyone enjoys the site, and the new updates that I have on the way, things such as a You Tube channel, a full update for the website (once I can afford web hosting), and more.

A much needed reminder

Sadly sometimes its easy for me to forget the little things that are important, or can be important in life, some of the things that help remind you of who you are, where you are going, and where you should be looking.  I had a great reminder of this this actually all day today and have to thank my my brother in law, and my nephew for the reminder.

Update for 10/8/2012

*Eyeballs my computer's clock a few times to make sure I'm not imagining things*  Boy does time fly... anyway my apologies for the lack of updates lately.  Its been a hectic time for me and a time for a lot of change in my life despite how much I may, or may not want it.  Looking forward I see no signs of change in what I am facing unfortunately and can use the help and support that others can provide.

A minor update

My web page bit.ly/SKYLmj details in more information my status.  In short I’m SOL.  It looks like I’m going to have to sell everything just to make the fees charged by the courts as well as the attorneys that the court “Very highly recommends”.  Basically they say with out it your likely to fail in your attempt and waste a few hundred bucks right there.

Hello, is this thing on?

Just thought I'd say something since I've gotten no responses so far to what I posted.  I've delayed as long as I can, and tomorrow... I have to start making phone calls.  Wish me luck everyone... and in related news I'd like to hear back from you.  Would you like me to finish Amalur on the stream or move on to a new game?  I'll make a vote poll here on the site, and let me know by Wensday.

1 Week

I have just posted my announcement on my website at https://sites.google.com/site/bluemagicanssite/.  Due to that I will give a very brief rundown of what that announcement says.  In short in 1 week I will have to sell my possessions in order to hire an attorney and file for bankruptcy.  After that I will have no internet, no computer, no video games, nothing.  Unless something major changes in my life, this is the only option I have left open to me.

For all you Pokémanics out there

Just a short note.  I found an interesting video on Kotaku check it out.  Its about hidden facts and secret things that were in the games.

DOJ and Comast its not quite what you might think…

Just a short clip this time.  First of all I am working on getting the 3 mini podcasts up on the website as well as the first full episode.  I’m seriously debating breaking it in to two parts.  it ended up being nearly 2 hours long (in fact I believe its something along the lines of 2 seconds short) at the current moment.  That seems a tad long for me for a podcast… but let me know what you think.

Nintendo’s E3 2012 Press Conference

I had high hopes for Nintendo.  Sadly these hopes were not realized in their press conference as they don’t seem to have learned much from past mistakes.  As usual Reggie Fils-Aime was the host and anchor of the show, and looked awkward, uncomfortable, and even lost at times.

Sony E3 Press Conference

Sony certainly came out of the gate swinging this E3.  With the help of Ubisoft they most certainly had an impressive show, from surprise announcements, to known games Sony has done something that we have been waiting to see for a while now.  While I had hoped to hear something more about their plans for the future, and for more tie-ins with alternate devices, it was still impressive.

Ubisoft E3 Press Conference

Talk about taking the cake.  So far Ubisoft has flat ran away with my wow factor when it comes to this E3.  From games like watch Dogs, to Assassin’s Creed 3, and Farcry 3 they actually  have me wanting to go and play games I’ve had no real interest in just so that I’m better prepared for their upcoming  titles.

EA’s Press Conference

This press conference was largely as I expected, with a lot of talk on sports titles.  Madden 13, Fifa 13, an announcement of them getting UFC.  Being a non-sports gamer these games hold little interest to me however I will say that the idea of leveling up a player to me makes sense for Madden, Fifa, etc.  Sim City was also discussed, and a little more was given out about a new MULTIPLAYER feature… very cool.

Microsoft Press Event 2012

I’ll be honest Microsoft did not impress me very much this year.  Their conference was by and large annual announcements (Dance Central 3,  Call of Duty Black Ops 2, etc.   I was hoping for something truly surprising and they had one thing that actually has be curious and interested.  Xbox Smart Glass looks to be something with the potential to be truly impressive.

A Sunday Press Release

Nintendo this Sunday June 3, 2012, held a small press conference before the official start of E3 (Electronics Entertainment Expo).  It was an interesting pre-recorded release by Satoru Iwata, who though from my understanding doesn’t speak English well, spoke English through out the entire pre-recorded video.  The release was short, only a half hour, and covered by and large the Nintendo Wii U Game Pad (try saying that 5 times fast).

Spooky…

Last night in my cast in the last hour or so(Feel free to go back and watch it here) I was talking about predictions for this years E3.  As I mentioned we would almost certainly be hearing more information, if only rumors, about the next XBox 360 and Playstation system.  One of the things I mentioned however, which actually upset some of my viewers as a possibility, seems to have at one point been a possibility…

Isn’t it lovely?

There has been a problem with XBox 360 accounts being stolen.  It’s a known fact and one that Microsoft doesn’t like to admit.  I find it some what frightening though the reasons and the happenstance behind it.

The Possible Ramifications are Frightening

Sometimes the deeper meaning of an event escapes us. Things that we would like to think we would have noticed immediately don’t catch our attention until sometime later. Talking about Diablo 3 there are some ramifications that occur that I personally hadn’t considered but are never the less somewhat frightening to consider.

Comcast, you surprise me!

While this certainly isn’t the news that I had hoped to hear it is none the less good news for anyone who is a Comcast subscriber.  They have just raised the 250GB data usage limit to 300GB.  As found via Gizmodo this is good news as that 50GB I’m sure will prove handy, though I personally had hoped to see 500 GB  or more…

As predicted…

I’ve spoken out against the idea of games with an “always on” strategy for preventing piracy.  The idea, for anyone who doesn’t know, is that you MUST BE ONLINE AT ALL TIMES in order to play the game even the single player part of the game.  By doing this you are signed into your account with the game company and they can monitor and verify that you are who you say you are and are playing a legal copy of their game.

Did you ever wonder?

Sometimes a commercial is oddly accurate… if overly dramatic.  The latest commercial from Gamefly as I found on Kotaku does an oddly accurate if not highly over dramatic (most of the time anyway) response to the prices that said store gives its customers.  While I don’t work for them any more I worked for them for over two years and you get to see all kinds of ugly nasty reactions, however a pout or anger are the most common reactions.  Anyway give a view… see if you’d like to work for the company.

Wow alot of news today...

This is a unusual day, normally I try to keep the posts to one a day as I don't want to overwhelm readers since I know I'm long winded at times.  However today Kotaku has really hit the ball out of the ball park and posted an excellent article that I myself was working on a version of for this blog.  However I want to tackle the shorter of the two articles first  I'll let you read it for yourselves, but lets just say once I actually tried Steam.. Is aw this coming.

First the News, and then… The rest of the story…

Okay I already referenced Mr. Harvey once, but at the same time this seems appropriate.  Late last night as I was crawling in bed ((no not literally) … badum tish) I had to move the bag that I have for my little netbook.  Yeah they stink… not good for much etc. etc. etc. I keep it by my bed in case I wake up inspired or can’t sleep.  Anyway moved my bag and it was oddly heavy.  Upon checking out the bag (which I had moved hours earlier and noticed NOTHING odd about) I found my missing DSi and games!

… a test that will take a little while…

Sorry still making adjustments to the blog and testing the RSS system.  I managed to get it set up last night, however I didn’t get a chance to test the auto update capabilities to ensure that it was what I wanted.  So this is me testing the second part.  There might be more tests to come.

Something of a test…

Alright this is going to sound odd but I realized I’ve failed some on my job here.  I haven’t been using all of the tools at my disposal to make my endeavor here a success and in that respect I have failed everyone who reads this blog.  I sincerely apologize for that and am working to use some of this hip new tech like them “RSS feeds” and “Page Jumps” so you don’t get hit with quite so much wall of text when visiting the blog.  I apologize in advance if this means you get spammed, or if the blog or website look odd because of it.  I’m attempting to build a more cohesive whole.

A Mini-update

My office space such as it is, is about to be invaded.  Since I will assume that people who follow me in the various forms of media (blog, website, casting, twitter) would prefer to me to continue my progress and journey such as it is with out interruption.  Tomorrow I will be relocating my office into our spare bedroom.  While this does present certain issues in and of its own accord hopefully most of them will be minor (since we get house guests about twice a year).  However this may also mean that I'll be off line while I rearrange, reorganize, and otherwise juggle things around.  My apologies in advance.

Mistakes of the past…

It often surprises me when you read about someone doing a mistake that someone else has done in the past.  I’m not talking about small silly mistakes… no I’m talking about things that alter the courses of entire industries, or nations, or events of that caliber.  Certain events seem like they would be common and something that were easy to spot.  However even in these modern times we have them occurring.

I here by apologize for this, but ask you to read it anyway

Normally I try to keep my nose clear of politics.  In fact I have a formal position on politics and that is that you don’t discuss them with:
  • Friends
  • Family
  • Coworkers
  • Anyone else you want to keep a healthy positive relationship with.

Mixed Emotions

I’ve been thinking the past four days, attempting to decide how I feel about the surprising news that Adam Sessler, co-host of G4’s X-Play and long running member of the video game media is leaving G4.  I find this news surprising to be honest.  Its rather like walking home from school as a young child and going into the dining room and seeing the family’s pet fish is dead.

Believe me, I’m trying not to laugh….

Alright checking out Dealzon I saw something that seriously made me have to fight not to laugh.  I mean seriously, come on Duke has had a rough year already but isn’t this just adding injury on top of insult?  Not sure what I’m talking about?  Check here or here for the scoop.

Really Comcast?

Alright, I think its safe to say that I at least attempt to keep a fair and open mind on things.  I try to hear people out, take in both sides of an argument even when I’m a part of it, and I attempt but don’t always succeed at understanding the other person’s point of view.  So, this bit of information from Gizmodo and Engadget really strikes me as a moment of what where they thinking.

They just keep coming and coming…

There isn’t a lot to say to this post, as I’m not going to go on about why I haven't been making any posts on the blog.  The short simple version of the story is I had a lot of stuff crop up and family out so I just didn’t have the time to get posts up.  On to other news:

Death to Free Speech by the DMCA or A Plea for Sanity.

For those of you who don’t know DMCA is an abbreviation for the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.  Yes that lovely little bill that has record companies suing grandmothers, and file sharing sites.  It appears that we have a new aspect of it to consider… an end to free speech.

A Moment of Silence for Terraria

In doing my normal sweeps of websites for information I stumbled upon something that I find to be rather sad.  Terraria is no longer in production and will receive only one more bug fix.  While I do understand the reasoning behind this and can agree with wanting to spend time with family, it is still a sad end for a game that helped bring be back into gaming.  To read the full post please visit here.

PlayStation Vita (non Hands-On) Recommendation

Let me first be completely clear if the title wasn’t clear enough, I do not have, nor have I played, used, or experienced the PlayStation Vita hands on.  The review is based entirely upon impressions that I have gotten from reading reviews, and my own personal feelings and insights.  As always I encourage anyone reading this to come up with their own opinion and to at least try the system before coming up with a final decision on purchasing the system.

PlayStation Vita Matters

Why does Sony make so many mistakes when it comes to the United States?  Their products (generally speaking) are of good quality, often they are some what over priced, but are usually worth the value.  I don’t understand why in the past oh five to ten years have started making so many mistakes when it comes to the U.S., and why they seem to think we are some sort of special exception to the rest or the world, that or are aliens… I’m not sure which one it is.

ZOMG A NEW POST!

Okay maybe it’s a bit over done, but I thought I would do a brief post saying that I’m going to attempt to blog more regularly again.   Long story short I got lazy for a while and have been working on some other things so the blog got pushed to one side.  Never fear however I will attempt to make my posting much more regular from here on out.
