I had intended this week to comment on something else, something more in tune with the current landscape of video games, and may still do so at a later date, but at the moment there is a bigger issue that I feel has suddenly cropped up. For anyone who knows me in real life, you know that I am normally protective… perhaps usually over protective of my equipment, no matter what it is or how cheap it may be. Recently however I lost two pieces of equipment though “Water proof” to a kitchen incident followed by a washing machine accident.
I should clarify that I’ve not given them time to properly dry out and check to see if they are/will be operational after letting them air out, but I don’t hold out much hope to be honest. It amazes me that I haven’t lost them, to a limited extent, however it infuriates me that it happened. I normally detest even the concept of ANY damage to anything I own… and this was such a stupid loss, in such a stupid way. I certainly hope that they work after but it got me to thinking.
This particular device was designed to be used by the young and old, no one particular group, and would be exposed to weather. The company admittedly hasn’t had along time with the devices out in the US, however it’s been out for 3/4ths a year in Japan, and you would think that they would bring over some of the accessories for the device… yet… oddly… nothing. It makes me wonder if the company didn’t just say “Well hell the Americans have money to blow, we’ll just let them destroy theirs and rake in the cash once all’s said and done.” While I highly doubt that this is the case, it does seem odd to me that they have done NOTHING here, save one company’s bundle set with the item… but with the number of companies in America, this practice makes no sense. I just can’t figure out why they haven’t brought out skins or such.
If you’ll pardon the expression, but with any luck, and perhaps the grace of god, my devices will be alright. If not there goes the better part of the price of anew game to get replacements if I decide to go that route… anyway you look at it, it stinks worse then a ripe diaper.
